Georgetown (CARICOM): Plastic pollution has wide-ranging consequences for CARICOM states. Plastics threaten marine biodiversity, including sea turtles, seabirds, and fish as well as coral reefs which are vital to marine life and coastal protection. Plastic pollution harms the fishing industry, a critical source of food and livelihoods in many CARICOM countries. Lost fishing gear and plastic waste can damage equipment.

Georgetown (CARICOM): The members of the Caucus of CARICOM Ambassadors to the United Nations met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to express their concerns about the deteriorating situation in Haiti and to explore ways to continue to support the country as it attempts to stem armed violence and restore constitutional authority.

CARICOM March 23, 2025, Bridgetown (CARICOM): Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Culture, Barbados, Shantal Munro-Knight, says the country is ready to welcome the Region and the world to CARIFESTA XV from 22 to 31 August, which will be staged under the theme “Caribbean Roots, Global Excellence.”

Face-to-face discussion on reparatory justice is absolutely important

Georgetown (CARICOM): CARICOM leaders have agreed that a face-to-face conversation on reparations with all stakeholders is essential. This was stated by CARICOM Chair and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley. She highlighted leaders’ continued advocacy for reparatory justice and underscored that the issue is a high priority for the body.
