Dr Espinosa Campbell was speaking following a contract signing with Chairman of Jacden Group of Companies, Dennis Gordon, at the Lyndhurst Road office on Tuesday.

   Noting that the cancers are one of the leading causes of death in Jamaica, Dr Espinosa Campbell said the facility -to be opened in the next two to three months- will focus on the top five causes to include breast cancer, prostate cancer, and lung cancer.

   “With the newly developed drugs coming out of Cuba we’ll be able to focus and to strategically align our treatment plans to ensure that we have a cure for most of our cancers. So, I look forward to developing these service lines further and effectively making Jamaicans healthier,” she shared.

   Being careful not to reveal too much regarding the new drug from Cuba, Dr Espinosa Campbell noted that Jacden Pharma & Medical Services will be leading the technology and technological advances as it relates to cancer care in Jamaica and in the wider Caribbean.

   In addition to chemotherapy services, Dr Espinosa Campbell said the facility will provide cardiology services and acute care services for Jamaicans at an affordable cost making it accessible and access-able for everyone.

   The vision from the chairman, Mr Gordon, is really to make healthcare affordable for all Jamaicans. In keeping with that vision, the strategic direction would be making it cost effective.

   We have brought on some of the best consultants from Cuba to ensure that the healthcare delivery is done in a very precise manner using the top drugs so we’re able to shave the costs and cut the cost of the drugs and the treatment and the post care that is necessary for our patients,” she explained.

   “I also want to say that it’s very important that we focus on the mental health of our cancer patients…They have suffered the loss of their colleagues and their friends and, of course, there would be strong focus on the mental health care aspect of our cancer patients,” she continued.

   Dr Espinosa Campbell appealed to Jamaicans to access the services offered by Jacden Pharma & Medical Services once the facility is open.

   “I want to appeal to Jamaicans that once the service is open, we invite you to come and share in our experience from good healthcare. We are open to everybody from the very young to the very old and I want to see a lot more of our Jamaicans getting healthier,” she said.

   Dr Espinosa Campbell is a former acting director of Emergency Medical Services in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and has a wealth of experience in the local healthcare industry.
