According to police reports Hector, of Iris Avenue, Glencoe, had attended an Old Year’s Night service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was walking to his car along Stanmore Avenue around 7:30 pm on Tuesday night.
However, as he neared his car, two other vehicles, a black SUV and a Nissan B15 pulled alongside him and shot him, then sped off.
The 43-year-old collapsed, and was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital for treatment.
Hector died while undergoing treatment.
A team of officers led by Snr Sup Thom responded to the report.Officials said 15 spent 9mm shells were found at the scene of the shooting.
Based on current intelligence, police believe Hector’s killing may have links to recent gang activities in the area.
A State of Emergency was proclaimed on December 30, 2024, after information received by police of imminent reprisal killings, following a mass shooting in Laventille on December 29 which claimed the lives of five people, and a shooting on December 28 outside the Besson Street Police Station which left one man dead.
