Unidentified individuals vandalized the Haitian daily, Le Nouvelliste

Port-au-Prince (Loop Haiti): The premises of the Haitian daily, Le Nouvelliste, located on rue du center in Port-au-Prince, were vandalized by unidentified individuals, Loop Haiti learned.

“Unidentified individuals have invaded the daily’s premises for several days,” the newspaper said in a press release, published this Friday.

The vandals took away «the raw materials necessary for printing the newspaper», denounces the short story writer who says he will rely on the authorities.

Located in the heart of the Haitian capital, plagued by an exacerbated increase in gang violence that has shaken the country since the beginning of March, the newspaper Le Nouvelliste, a monument to the Haitian press, is extending the list of vandalized establishments.

The National Library, pharmacies, schools, religious institutions, the Sylvio Cator stadium… were ransacked by armed men who dictate their law in Port-au-Prince, forcing several tens of thousands of people to flee the capital city.

The Haitian daily which has served the population for more than 125 years will continue to provide information from its digital version, the press release indicated.
