PM Mustafa: The catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza is intolerable

Ramallah (WAFA): Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stressed that "the catastrophic and rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has become intolerable. Humanitarian aid is important today, but our people in Gaza need more than just aid—they want freedom, dignity, and a future."

He made his remarks during a high-level coordination meeting at the Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions for Gaza, to mobilize more pressure to end the Israeli genocidal war and starvation, strengthen relief efforts, and mobilize increased international funding for UN relief agencies. The meeting was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of UN and humanitarian organizations, ministers, and members of the operations room.

“We cannot fail the people of Gaza given the time of immense humanitarian suffering they are going through. We urge the international community to step up its support, provide greater humanitarian assistance, and exert stronger, sustained efforts to end the genocidal and starvation war, open all border crossings, and ensure the unimpeded entry of life-saving aid to meet the urgent and mounting humanitarian needs,” the Prime Minister underscored.

In his remarks, EU Representative to Palestine Alexandre Stutzmann stated: “I would like to recall the public statements made by European leaders, who have said that the situation in Gaza must change. The High Representative also made clear in her discussions with all relevant parties that all options remain on the table as long as commitments—including those made by Israel—are not fulfilled.”

He added: “The Humanitarian Aid Office and UN agencies are working on the ground and closely monitoring the situation. Relevant EU bodies are in continuous contact with humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza to verify the scope of aid, resume bakery operations, ensure the supply of fuel, and emphasize the urgent need to open the border crossings. While there have been some improvements, they remain far from sufficient.”

A representative from  the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), also provided a detailed briefing on the logistical obstacles and Israeli-imposed restrictions that continue to hamper the adequate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.

Participants from various diplomatic missions, UN agencies, and humanitarian organizations affirmed the importance of collective efforts and the need to scale up humanitarian operations in Gaza in close coordination with the Palestinian Government and the Government Emergency Operations Room.
