One journalist killed and two injured as Israel ‘deliberately’ targets media crews

Gaza City (Anadolu) One more journalist was killed when Israeli warplanes targeted a Palestinian television crew, and two others were injured in Israeli forces' attacks in the northern Gaza Strip.

Al-Aqsa TV reported on its Telegram channel that photojournalist Mohammad Al-Tanani was killed and reporter Tamer Lubbad was injured in the Abu Sharakh roundabout area of Jabalia.

The broadcaster said Israeli warplanes targeted «its coverage team in northern Gaza» with missiles, and «occupation (Israeli) forces not only did this, but also prevented ambulances from reaching them.»

Meanwhile, an Al Jazeera photojournalist was also injured by Israeli army gunfire while covering the latest situation in northern Gaza.

«Our colleague Fadi Al-Wahidi was injured by occupation fire in northern Gaza,” the Qatar-based broadcaster reported.

Al Jazeera Correspondent Anas Al-Sharif wrote on social media that «gunfire was directed at the Al Jazeera team, injuring its photojournalist Fadi Al-Wahidi with a bullet to the neck during coverage.”

The number of journalists who were killed since the Israeli onslaught began on Gaza reached 176, the Gaza media office said in a statement.

The statement condemned «the targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the occupation» and held Israel fully responsible for committing «this crime.»

It called on the international community and international organizations to stop the Israeli forces and prosecute them in international courts for their ongoing crimes, and to pressure Israel to halt the genocide and the killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists.

According to an Anadolu reporter, the Israeli army has slapped a tight siege around northern Gaza from all directions, cutting it off from Gaza City.

Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last year, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

More than 42,000 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 97,700 others injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine. Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
