“Caribbean Roots, Global Excellence”. Theme for CARIFESTA XV

CARICOM March 23, 2025, Bridgetown (CARICOM): Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Culture, Barbados, Shantal Munro-Knight, says the country is ready to welcome the Region and the world to CARIFESTA XV from 22 to 31 August, which will be staged under the theme “Caribbean Roots, Global Excellence.”

Face-to-face discussion on reparatory justice is absolutely important

Georgetown (CARICOM): CARICOM leaders have agreed that a face-to-face conversation on reparations with all stakeholders is essential. This was stated by CARICOM Chair and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley. She highlighted leaders’ continued advocacy for reparatory justice and underscored that the issue is a high priority for the body.

CARICOM remains a key advocate for Haiti

CARICOM February 9, 2025, Georgetown (CARICOM): The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) continues to play a significant role in supporting Haiti, including advocating with the international community for increased funding for security and humanitarian relief in Haiti, Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) for Foreign and Community Relations within the CARICOM Secretariat, Elizabeth Solomon has said.
In an interview ahead of the 48th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM to be held from 19-21 February in Bridgetown, Barbados, ASG Solomon underscored the importance of the meeting to discuss, among other important issues, CARICOM’s continued support to Haiti.

Historic Step taken on Ocean Governance in the Wider Caribbean

New Institute of Maroon and Indigenous Studies

Georgetown (Caricom): Professor Hilary Beckles, The University of West Indies (UWI) Vice-Chancellor and Chair of the CARICOM Reparations Commission (CRC) has welcomed the recommendation from Jamaica’s Maroon community to establish a new institute to research, document and share the rich history, culture and contribution of Maroon and Indigenous people.
