President Sisi explained that due to ‘a lot of talk being circulated currently’, there is a need to remember Egypt’s positions, especially our position on stopping the Palestinians’ displacement, which would have rendered the idea of establishing a Palestinian state meaningless.
Regarding aid, we emphasized that the Gaza Strip needed 600 to 700 aid trucks daily, and we were keen to bring in as much aid as possible, Sisi said.
In this matter, he also clarified that the Gaza Strip has more than five crossings, including Rafah and Kerem Shalom of which it shares with Egypt.
Egypt’s President said that the amount of aid we have available and ready to enter the Gaza Strip is enormous, noting that ‘we cannot stop it, nor can anything prevent it from entering the stipe, because our ethics, values, and national and moral responsibilities do not permit it.’
However, for aid to enter, coordination with the other party at the crossing is necessary to allow the aid to pass through. This is the effort we have been trying to make over the past period as part of the negotiations, Sisi added.
Sisi affirmed that many details were addressed during the discussions and negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides to discuss the three points [stopping the war, delivering aid, and releasing the hostages], with strong and sincere participation from the Qatari side and the United States.
He noted that over the past months, we have been working hard to reach a solution. Sometimes we succeeded, and other times we faltered. “I am speaking today because the situation inside Gaza Strip has become tragic and unbearable,” affirmed
We must ensure that as much aid as possible enters the Strip to alleviate the crisis for our Palestinian brothers.
“I assure the Egyptian people that you should never imagine that we can play a negative role toward our brothers in Palestine. Do not imagine that the difficulty of the situation would change our honorable, loyal, and faithful role in the Palestinian cause. Our position does not change,” Sisi said.
He called on all countries of the world, including the European Union, the United States, and the Arab region, to make every effort during this difficult period to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and allow aid into the Strip.
President Sisi called especially on US President Donald Trump, saying that “he believes Trump is the one who can stop this war”.
“Therefore, I make a special appeal to him, please, make every effort to stop the war and allow aid into the country. I believe the time has come to end this war,” Sisi concluded.
